The IRS has extended the filing deadline from April 15, 2020 to July 15, 2020 for individuals, corporations, and trusts. This extension is automatic and does not require any further action such as the completion of a form or a call to the IRS. The new filing deadline is applicable to the following:

2019 Tax Filings
2019 Balance Due
2020 1st and 2nd Quarter Estimated Taxes
Installment Payment Agreement due April 15, 2020
IRA and HSA Contributions
Penalties and interest will begin to accrue on any remaining unpaid balances as of July 16, 2020. You will automatically avoid interest and penalties on the taxes paid by July 15th. Most states have followed the IRS’s lead. The Pennsylvania Department of Revenue has extended their filing deadline to July 15, 2020. Local tax collection bureaus are closed to the public at this time due to being classified as non-life sustaining.
